Description
Human ??-defensin 5 is an antiviral peptide. Human ??-defensin 5 blocks infection by non-enveloped viruses, including AdV, HPV, and polyomavirus (IC50: 0.6-1.25 ??M against HPV16). Human ??-defensin 5 can bind to viral capsids and prevent virus escape from endosomes. Human ??-defensin 5 increases the binding of HIV to the cell surface. Human ??-defensin 5 also has parasiticidal activity.
