Tachyplesin II
Description
Tachyplesin II is a broad-spectrum cationic antimicrobial peptide. Tachyplesin II has significant inhibitory effects against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, and some fungi. Tachyplesin II binds bacterial membrane lipopolysaccharide through positive charges, disrupts membrane integrity, and causes leakage of cellular contents. Tachyplesin II binds to the DNA minor groove, inhibits microbial replication, and also inhibits HIV-1 replication and hepatoma cell proliferation.
