Hs02
Description
Hs02, a cationic amphipathic antimicrobial peptide derived from a human protein, is the membrane-active module of the core chimeric peptide Chim2. Hs02 exhibits broad-spectrum and potent antibacterial activity against a variety of human pathogens, with MIC values as low as 2 ??M against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and MBC values of 2-4 ??M. Hs02 kills bacteria mainly by disrupting the integrity of the bacterial cell membrane, with relatively low selectivity for eukaryotic cell membranes. Hs02 induces cells to release IL-12 but not IL-6, suggesting a certain pro-inflammatory or immune-activating potential. Hs02 can be used in antibacterial and immunomodulatory research.
