Description
C5A is a microbicidal peptide and an anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) and anti-HIV compound. C5A disrupts the membrane integrity of HIV virions and the integrity of the conical capsid core surrounding the viral genome. C5A inhibits the in vitro infectivity of various primary HIV isolates in various primary target cells. C5A protects mice from vaginal and rectal HIV infection.
